24-year-old woman who was arrested on Sunday for allegedly spiking a man’s drink and stealing his money at an entertainment joint in Nyali Constituency has denied the charges.
Appearing before Shanzu Law Courts Resident Magistrate Yusuf Shikanda, Beatrice Mueni denied that together with other two ladies not in court, she administered a stupefying drug to Richard Nyasamba Wanyonyi on September 8, 2020 at Drips Club Bamburi/Mtambo area.
Apparently, after Wanyonyi blacked out, Mueni and company stole his Huawei Y92S phone (valued at Sh30,000), before using it to withdraw Sh1,574,212 from a NCBA account No.6437360023.
Wanyonyi is a bank employee. Bank managers usually have big money transaction limits.
The court freed Mueni on a bond of Sh3 million with an alternative cash bail of Sh1 million. The case is set to be mentioned on December 21, 2020.
According to Nyali Sub County Deputy Police Commander Ibrahim Daffala, the CCTV footage retrieved from Drips Club unearthed the suspect and the complainant were seated together on the fateful day.
She was arrested at Signature Club in Mombasa, while her accomplices are still at large.
She used the money to buy land
The 24-year-old used part of the money to buy land in Murang’a County.
According to The Standard, detectives probing the case say Mueni paid the said land in two installments of Sh200,000 and Sh300,000 to a landowner in Gichugu Constituency.
For the remaining amount, Mueni allegedly paid her rent in Mombasa and used the rest of the loot for partying and drinking sprees.
