Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti on Saturday, November 21 raised alarm over an online cartel that has been luring high school girls from their homes for partying orgies that go on for days.
DCI says that preliminary investigations have established that girls are been lured out of their homes through a social media account named Carty-gang-ent.
“The cartel has been using internationally-registered telephone numbers, although they operate from Nairobi,” says DCI.
This comes barely 24 hours after three out of the seven 16-year-old girls who had been reported missing were rescued by DCI detectives. The girls are from Nairobi’s Kayole and Komarock areas.
Upon interrogation by detectives drawn from the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit, the girls revealed how they were lured from their homes and linked up in partying joints within Nairobi area.
“The DCI wishes to inform the public that we are hunting down members of the cartel and they’ll be apprehended to answer for their crimes,” adds the DCI, who further warns parents to take a keen interest in their children’s activities at home and on social media networks.
