The Kenya Union of Clinical Officers (KUCO) on Tuesday, February 23 called off their nationwide strike after a court order.
The union Chairperson Peterson Wachira Tuesday directed all members to report back to work, ending their 70-day industrial action.
Although the health workers’ demands have not been met, KUCO urged its members to obey court order issued by Justice Maureen Onyango on Monday.
“We will comply with the court order and therefore direct our members to report to their work stations, although our employers have not addressed our grievances even as we resume duty,” said Wachira.
In her ruling, Justice Onyango ordered the workers to return to work. She said that no disciplinary action should be taken against the clinical officers, and that employers should pay their salaries.
The union further urged employers (county governments) to sign and implement the Return To Work Formulae.
In February 13, clinical officers in Taita Taveta and Kisii Counties were evicted from their houses over refusal to resume duty.
