Mombasa County has introduced a robotics training programme for children in Early Childhood Education Development centres (ECDEs).
Anwar Ahmed, County chief ICT officer, says the aim is to spur early innovations among children.
The Ksh15m programme targets 98 ECDEs throughout the county. About 12,000 children are set to benefit. Twelve teachers have already received special technical training by experts from Singapore.
“We all know that kids are interested in ICT programmes and thus this is a great opportunity to encourage them to attend school and quench their ICT thirst,” said Ramadhan Matano, ECDE officer.
Miriam Mbaruk, Tech officer, says more teachers will be integrated into the programme and new laboratories established to ensure success. “Our main aim is to promote especially from our Early Childhood development levels,” she said.
