Police in Chaka, Nyeri County, have launched a manhunt for a suspect who killed his wife before dumping her body in a forest.
“Baba Lewis”, a mjengo man, reportedly left his workplace on Saturday evening after complaining of feeling unwell.
He told his colleagues that he was going to a hospital, and borrowed KSh50 to buy a medical form.
“He called his wife (Muthoni)and said he was unwell and needed to seek medical care. He told her to bring him his coat and meet him by the roadside so she could accompany him to the hospital,” Samuel Maina told a local TV station.
Later on that night, Baba Lewis reportedly called his colleagues and confessed he had killed his wife and dumped the body.
Shocked, the colleagues left their workplace and set out to look for the body. In the darkness, they were unable to locate it.
Muthoni’s body was found on Sunday. She had several stab wounds.
Troubled couple
According to neighbours, the couple has been having constant quarrels for long.
“Two weeks ago, a fight had erupted between them but we intervened,” Joyce Njeri, one of the neighbour said. “After two days, the two got back together.”
