Makueni Boys High School on Saturday, February 20 suspended 258 KCSE candidates after they refused to shave their heads.
The Form Four candidates apparently defied a routine shaving exercise in the school on Friday and started hurling stones.
Confirming the incident, Makueni police commander Joseph Ole Napeiyansaid that the students went on a rampage at around 8:45 pm Friday, and they even assaulted school principal Raphael Diwani.
“The school principal was hit on the head and sustained injuries. He sought treatment from a local hospital and has since been discharged,” said Ole Napeiyan.
Police were called in to contain the rogue students who refused to shave on excuse that the region was cold and therefore needed long hair.
Only three of the KCSE candidates accepted to be shaved, albeit on their desired design, and not bald like the rest of the rest of the school students.
Property of unknown value was destroyed in the process, with the school management set to determine the next course of action.
