Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi was on Wednesday, February 17 evening involved in a road accident at Ololunga, Narok County.
Maangi was traveling from Kisii to Nairobi when a Toyota Prado vehicle he was being driven in hit a motorbike that abruptly joined the Narok-Bomet Road from a feeder road at Tegero area.
The motorbike rider, identified as John Sanyo, was carrying his eight-year-old son. They both died on the spot while Maangi, his driver, and bodyguard escaped unhurt.
A rowdy crowd, however, descended on Maangi’s official car, setting it on fire.
Maangi says that a well-wisher drove him to safety.
“The Bodaboda rider joined the road unexpectedly. My driver tried all the best to avoid hitting him with his passenger,” said Maangi.
The bodies of the decease were removed to Narok County Hospital.
