The late Member of Parliament for Bonchari, John Oroo Oyioka, is set to be buried on Friday, February 26, at his Suneka home in Kisii County.
Geoffrey Mogire, who is chairing the burial organization committee, said that his memorial and burial ceremony will be done on the same day at Itierio High School grounds in Suneka.
The decision was arrived at after deliberations among the Gusii lawmakers led by Borabu MP Ben Momanyi, during various meetings in Nairobi.
A fundraising ceremony ahead of the burial is set for Tuesday, February 23 at the 680 Hotel for those available in Nairobi.
Back at his rural home, a similar event will be held at his home on Wednesday, February 24.
“We expect to have a smooth send-off that befits his status,” said Mogire.
The late Oroo passed away at the Aga Khan hospital in Kisumu on Monday after a long illness.
