Moi Girls High School, Eldoret, has been closed indefinitely after students held a demonstration on Wednesday, February 17 morning.
The students staged demonstrations accusing the school principal Christine Chumba of harassment, reducing amount of food served to them and mismanagement of funds.
In a raft of complaints, the students are also accusing their principal of reintroducing corporal punishment and infringing in their right to worship.
The learners have now been given until tomorrow (Thursday, February 17) to vacate the school compound.
This decision was met at a meeting in the school on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by the Uasin Gishu County Director of Education Gitonga Mbaka, the schoolβs Board of Management and the principal.
The student’s have also complained on the lack of electricity yet the school has a generator, and lack of adequate equipment in their science laboratories.
