Two more suspects have been arrested in connection with the loss of Ksh15 million belonging to a Chinese national.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), 32-year-old Cyrus Kinyanjui, 32, and Alexander Kuria,30, are the prime suspects in the Lang’ata theft in which Wang Daoli lost his money.
Acting on intelligence, detectives from the Special Service Unit (SSU) trailed the duo to Mombasa. Kinyanjui was in a Toyota Vanguard, registration number KDB 181P. Detectives found Ksh2 million cash in the vehicle.
Kuria had reportedly deposited Ksh1 million in his Equity Bank account, believed to be part of the loot.
Preliminary investigations reveal the Toyota Vanguard was the vehicle captured on CCTV at the scene of crime. It “has been detained and kept as an exhibit,” says DCI.
Four other suspects, all Wang Daoli’s workers, had been arrested earlier after police suspected the theft to be an inside job.
Wang Daoli had left the cash in a safe inside his house in Lang’ata, and joined friends to celebrate Chinese New Year. When he came back, the safe was missing.
