Deputy President (DP) William Ruto has faulted ODM leader Raila Odinga and his brigade over what he says is hypocrisy.
DP Ruto faulted Raila of claiming to be in partnership with the Jubilee administration because of his Handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta, yet he is accusing the same government of failing to fulfil its campaign pledges.
Speaking in Isiolo town after presiding over the empowerment of 70 churches, Ruto now says that the opposition cannot have its cake and eat it.
“I want to tell the former opposition to make up their mind, either to hang out with us [Jubilee government] or to quit. You cannot have your cake and eat it my friends.
“You cannot say you are in partnership with us, and at the same time you are telling us the Jubilee administration has done nothing. Jubilee’s developmental record is very clear,” said Ruto.
Ruto: Uhuru and I are a team
In what was seen as Ruto answering his boss, Ruto said that he enjoys a cordial relationship with President Uhuru, insisting that he has never disrespected him.
Ruto said that there is no political competition between him and Uhuru, and that he has never failed to execute any task assigned to him by the President.
“Mimi sijawahi kutomheshimu Rais Uhuru. Hakuna mashindano kati yangu na Rais…Yeye ndiyo mkubwa wetu na tunamheshimu. Hakuna kazi hata moja ambayo amenipa mimi nikakosa kutekeleza,” added Ruto.
He took time to highlight what he says the Jubilee administration has been able to achieve, including the building of hospitals, tarmacking of roads and electricity connectivity.
