President Uhuru Kenyatta has launched a scathing attack at his deputy William Ruto, over what he terms as lying to Kenyans on serious political issues.
In a speech seen as directed towards his deputy, Uhuru accused Ruto of lying to the people of Mt Kenya about BBI issues.
He questioned Ruto’s sentiments earlier this week when he told mourners at a funeral in Nyeri that he loves them, yet his brigade is abusing leaders from the region.
“He [Ruto] is just lying to you that he loves you [Mt. Kenya region], does he love you when he tells you to abuse others?” questioned Uhuru.
Uhuru also faulted leaders who are using doublespeak to divide Kenyans for selfish gains saying the Government’s focus is the unity and development of the country.
“Huwezi kuja upande mmoja unatusi, na upande mwingine unasema angalia tumefanya kama serikali. Kitu ni moja we are either together are we are apart.
“Kwa mdomo moja unasema serikali ni mbaya, kwingine unasema eti tumefanya kama serikali… kwani serikali ni ngapi Kenya hii? Kama unataja uzuri wake kaa nayo, kama unataja ubaya wake toka uwache wale wengine waendelee,” said Uhuru.
President Uhuru was speaking to wananchi at Uthiru shortly after opening a level 3 health centre and community water project in the area.
He officially opened the Uthiru-Muthua Health Centre and Muthua Community Water Supply Project in Kabete, Kiambu County.
The health centre is part of 24 such facilities being developed by the Nairobi Metropolitan Service in Nairobi and its satellite towns.
