Homa Bay County on Thursday passed the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill, 2020.
Members of County Assembly (MCAs) unanimously passed the Bill which was tabled before the House by Justice and Legal Affairs committee chairperson Ajimba Ayieta. It was seconded by nominated MCA Kevin Onyango.
The BBI bill requires the support of at least 24 out of the 47 county assemblies in the country, for it to proceed to the next phase- Parliament approval.
Homa Bay becomes the third county assembly to pass the Bill after Siaya and Kisumu.
On Wednesday, ODM leader Raila Odinga said that nothing can stop the BBI trian.
While likening the BBI process with River Nile that traverses across countries to flow into the Mediterranean Sea, the former prime minister said that BBI is unstoppable.
“BBI itapita wapende wasipende, the ODM and Jubilee in Nairobi have started a movement that is unstoppable, it’s like river Nile from Lake Victoria to Mediterranean Sea,” Raila said.
