Baringo is the first county assembly to reject the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) Bill.
In a debate that was marred with chaos and confusion on Thursday, the county assembly voted against the bill, with 30 MCAs voting “NO” and only five voting “YES”.
The session was forced to take a break after a clash between Jubilee and KANU MCAs.
On Thursday afternoon, the session took a 30-minute break after a clash between KANU and Jubilee MCAs brought business into a stand still.
Sources have told TV47 Digital a disagreement ensued in the assembly after Muchongoi ward MCA Kipruto Kimosop claimed that some Jubilee and KANU MCAs were plotting to shoot down the motion tabling the BBI bill.
The day also saw Homa Bay become the third county assembly to pass the BBI Bill after Siaya and Kisumu.
The BBI Bill needs to be endorsed by at least 24 out of the 47 county assemblies, for it to proceed to the next stage-Parliament approval.
