Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka on Wednesday approved the removal of Senator Irungu Kang’ata as the House Majority Chief Whip.
Delivering his verdict when the Senate resumed its sittings, Speaker Lusaka said that due process was followed.
The Murang’a Senator was ousted from the influential position following a special PG meeting at KICC on Tuesday.
Kang’ata was replaced by his Kiambu counterpart Paul Kimani Wamatangi.
According to Jubilee Party Sec-Gen Raphael Tuju, Kang’ata was dewhipped because of “a breach of confidentiality”.
“When we meet as leadership, you are supposed to keep the confidentiality of the meeting, keep the confidentiality of what we have discussed.
“But if after talking, you immediately go out and expose those who you talked with and what you said with them, then that is not acceptable and that is his biggest failure as a leader,” said Tuju.
