Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata has been ousted from the Senate Majority Chief Whip position.
According to Jubilee Party Sec-Gen Raphael Tuju, Kang’ata has been replaced by his Kiambu counterpart Paul Kimani Wamatangi.
Tuju says that Kang’ata has been dewhipped because of “a breach of confidentiality”.
“When we meet as a leadership, you are supposed to keep the confidentiality of the meeting, keep the confidentiality of what we have discussed. But if after talking, you immediately go out and expose those who you talked with and what you said with them, then that is not acceptable and that is his biggest failure as a leader,” said Tuju.
The decision to kick out Senator Kang’ata was met after a Jubilee Parliamentary Group meeting was held at the KICC on Tuesday morning.
The meeting came just a day after the party had expelled six nominated senators, for disciplinary issues.
Deputy President William Ruto’s allies walked out of the meeting that was set to be attended by party leader president Uhuru Kenyatta.
