Police on Monday arrested a vehicle in which a woman was pushed out of it while it was moving, leading to her death.
The crew of the said vehicle belonging to Memba Sacco are accused of throwing Judy Wanjiku and another pedestrian out of the moving bus on Saturday, February 6, in Juja.
26-year-old Wanjiku, who was an employee of Equity Bank- Ruiru branch, succumbed to the injuries she had incurred a few hours later.
The National Police Service (NPS) says that the vehicle of registration number KCZ-729C has been detained in Wanguru Police Station in Mwea.
“Our attention has been brought to an unfortunate incident where a lady was allegedly pushed out of a moving vehicle in Juja. The vehicle KCZ-729C has been detained in Wanguru Police Station in Mwea,” says NPS.
The driver and conductor of the vehicle are still at large, with NPS assuring Kenyans and the deceased family that the culprits will be arrested and brought to book.
Rogue matatu crew
It is reported that a confrontation ensued between Wanjiku and the conductor after a disagreement over bus fare, leading to the unfortunate incident.
Eyewitnesses claim that the driver even wanted to run her over but onlookers operating a car wash are the ones who reacted quickly and pulled them out of the bus’ path.
After the incident, the duo was first treated at a Ruiru hospital and discharged.
On Sunday, however, Wanjiku complained of headache and taken to Thika Level V Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The family of Judy Wanjiku is calling on the arrest of the driver and justice to be served.
