Drama ensued at a BBI consultative meeting in Kisumu County after two governors were denied a chance to share the podium with Raila Odinga.
It all started when Migori Governor Okoth Obado and his Siaya counterpart Cornel Rasanga arrived late at Ciala Resort, the venue where ODM leader Raila Odinga had convened the meeting bringing together Governors, MPs, Professionals, delegates and Members of the County Assemblies of the Lower Nyanza counties.
The two latecomers arrived when Raila was delivering his speech to the hundreds of leaders who had turned up.
Obado and Rasanga would then go straight to podium where fellow governors and high profile leaders were seated.
To their surprise, Raila, amid the heckling crowd, told them to go sit where the rest of the guests were sitting.
In fact, Raila categorically told Obado that the seat he was headed for was reserved for President Uhuru Kenyatta.
An invitation letter by ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna was addressed to all governors, MPs, MCAs, and all members of the ODM County Coordination Committees.
The meeting which is currently underway is expected to rally leaders especially the governors and MCAs to pass the BBI bill.
While addressing the delegates, Kisumu Governor Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o said that the main reason for the meeting was to teach the people the importance of the BBI report.
Kisumu West MP Olago Oluoch called upon leaders to rally behind the document and pass it first in the counties, before making their grievances.
