Four people were on Saturday arrested by the Border Patrol Unit for allegedly supplying arms, ammunition and ration to warring factions in the strife-torn Turbi-Isiolo border.
The police officers were on targeted patrol in Funa Qumbi following a tip-off from members of the local community, when they spotted a suspicious county government vehicle.
They gave a chase and intercepted the vehicle, and established that two of its occupants were Marsabit County government employees. One of the county officials was in possession of an AK-47 rifle, with ten rounds of 7.62mm calibre special.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) says that the county government vehicle was under the control of Uran Ward MCA Halkano Konsa, who upon its seizing went into hiding, prompting a manhunt.

“Meanwhile, the suspects will be presented before court on Monday February 8th, while the riffle will be subjected to ballistic examination by our ballistic experts and adduced as an exhibit in court during trial,” says the DCI.
