The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has declared that it will be supporting Wiper Party candidate Agnes Kavindu in the Machakos senatorial by-election.
Kavindu received the huge boost on Friday after ODM indicated that it is throwing its weight behind her, in the spirit of the National Super Alliance (NASA) and the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
“In the spirit of NASA and BBI, we SHALL rally our support to the Wiper Party candidate Ms. Agnes Kavindu to become the next Senator of Machakos County,” said ODM.
Kavindu was member of the 14-member steering committee that was tasked with overseeing the implementation of the BBI Report.
The committee came up with the Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill 2020 that is before the counties.
Confusion
This move comes a day after ODM Machakos branch had announced that it will rally support behind Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) party candidate John Mutua Katuku.
Katuku had already welcome the move, thanking the party for endorsing his candidature.
The Machakos senate seat fell vacant after the death of Senator Boniface Kabaka.
Amani National Congress (ANC) of Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya Party of Moses Wetangula have also shown dalliance with Kavindu’s candidature.
