Politicians interested in running for the presidency in 2022 on an ODM party ticket must pay a non-refundable fee of Ksh 1 million.
An advertisement by the party’s elections board chair Catherine Mumma also says candidates must hold a university degree besides being Kenyan, legally registered as voters and life members of ODM.
In addition, they must also meet the minimum presidential requirements as set out by the IEBC.
“Applicants must ensure to meet all requirements and send applications by 12pm on February 26, 2021,” said Mumma.
The application forms are available at the party’s headquarters at Chungwa House, Nairobi.
The party has 47 county branches. Party leader Raila Odinga is expected to be the flag bearer in 2022 and this call is seen as a routine political exercise.
The party was formed during the 2005 constitutional referendum campaigns. It is yet to be seen how the ongoing clamour for constitutional changes as envisaged in the BBI will impact on political parties and the general political alignment.
