The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) says that one of its staff members was killed under unclear circumstances in Arabal area, Baringo County.
According to IEBC, Mr. Brian Silale was among the six bodies that were recovered on Wednesday by police officers in the volatile region.
The electoral agency says that Mr. Silale was picked by unknown persons, together with five other people, from Chemolingot shopping centre in Tiaty on Tuesday around 3 pm.
“He was later murdered under unclear circumstances and the remains of his body together with other bodies were recovered on Wednesday 20th January at Arabal sub-location, Mukutani Ward in Baringo South,” IEBC says.
While condemning the heinous murder, the electoral commission has called upon government agencies to fast-track investigations so that the perpetrators are brought to book.
Upon his death, Mr. Silale was the commission’s Constituency Administrative Assistant (CAA) for Tiaty Constituency office.
The said bodies had gunshot wounds, and their death have been linked to the ongoing banditry attacks in the region.
Interior CS Fred Matiang’i on Monday warned of an extensive and sustained operation to flush out the bandits and a section of local politicians, he says, are fanning violence.
