- DP Ruto claims that the Jubilee administration has outranked all the previous regimes on matters development.
- Raila accuses Ruto of being “a fraud” and taking Kenyans for a ride by advancing cheap politics in the country.
Deputy President William Ruto has launched a scathing attack at ODM leader Raila Odinga over what he terms as “confusing the Jubilee government.”
Speaking on Sunday while oppening the Africa Inland Church (A.I.C) Londiani Town Sanctuary, DP Ruto said that the Jubilee administration was on course to delivering its election pledges to Kenyans when Raila came and scuttled everything.
“Nafasi za kazi ambazo tulikuwa tutengeneze kupitia kwa Big Four agenda hatujaweza kutimiza kwa sababu nyinyi [Raila] mlikuja mkabadilisha priority ya serikali yetu. Mkaanza kusema mambo ya Big Four si priority sahi, ati BBI ndiyo priority (We [government] had a plan to create two million jobs that we promised Kenyans through the Big 4 Agenda. But then you guys came with the Handshake and changed the government’s priorities from achieving Big 4 agenda to changing the Constitution through Building Bridges Initiative (BBI)),” lashed DP Ruto.
This comes just a day after the former prime minister had accused DP Ruto of playing “dirty, cheap politics” that cannot help the country both socially and economically.
Raila had challenged Ruto to first deliver on what they [UhuRuto] promised Kenyans during the 2013 presidential campaigns before crisscrossing the country politicking.
Also, Raila had accused Ruto of being “a fraud” and taking Kenyans for a ride by advancing cheap politics in the country, referring to the ‘hustler movement’ and ‘wheelbarrow/mkokoteni’ politics as backwardness.
In his rejoinder, DP Ruto claimed that Jubilee has outranked all the previous regimes on matters development, pointing out that it is the government that has built among others the SGR, over 140 technical colleges, tarmacked 7,000KM of roads, and has connected over five million Kenyans to electricity.
“Wewe na vitendawili vyako ni nini umefanyia Wakenya? Kazi ni kazi, acha kudharau kazi za watu kwa sababu wewe umekuwa na kazi kubwa kubwa kama prime minister…Mtu wa wheelbarow kesho anaweza kununua basi (You [Raila] with your proverbs what have you done for Kenyans? Do not look down upon people’s livelihoods just because you have had lucrative jobs like the premiership. A person who uses a wheelbarrow today can buy a bus tommorrow.)” said Ruto.
