Twins in Kitui have left villagers agape after passing on just five hours apart.
Onesmus Susa Mati and Gabriel Mutie Mati, aged 63, hailed from Mangina village, Kitui County.
According to Kalau Susa, Mutie’s daughter the duo had a meal and a lengthy tête-à-tête on the day of their passing.
Mati had been admitted to hospital for an undisclosed illness. Mutie paid him a visit to check on how he was fairing on. When he returned home he (Mutie) too fell ill.
According to a report in the Daily Nation, Mutie’s wife noticed a sudden dip in mood and his condition deteriorated into breathing complications. Mutie died on Friday, January 8, just as he was about to be taken to hospital.
At around the same time, Mati was put on life support in hospital. “Despite being critically ill, my father kept mentioning his brother’s name and telling him he is on the way. It is like he knew his twin brother was already dead,” Kalau is quoted by the newspaper as saying. He died that morning.
Mati died as plans were being made to transfer him to Nairobi Women’s Hospital.
