At around 4:15 am today, a long-haul truck plunged into the Indian Ocean at the Likoni Crossing, only two days after a tourist bus suffered similar fate.

The driver escaped unhurt when he lost control of the truck while boarding MV Kilindini ferry.

The ill-fated trailer has been recovered successfully. The trailer was salvaged at 11:55 am.

“We would like to appreciate all Multi-Agencies and members of the public for their participation,” the Kenya Ferry Services said.

Two days ago, a bus belonging to Pollman Tours and Safari Company also plunged into the ocean at the same spot. The bus was boarding MV Jambo ferry.

Salim Omar, driver, and his conductor, John Omutere escaped unhurt. Reports indicate that the frequent cause of accidents is the poor design of the boarding ramp.
