Nearly 15,400 teachers will be promoted in a new scheme advertised by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
The promotions will benefit mainly those in secondary schools, and are in line with the Career Progression Guidelines.
Commission Secretary Dr Nancy Macharia, says the positions up for grabs include deputy principals, senior lecturers, senior masters, curriculum support officers, head teachers and deputy head teachers.
“Pursuant to its mandate, the Commission is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the posts in line with CPG for teaches.
Interested candidates who meet the required qualifications should make their online applications through TSC website so as to be received on or before January 31… manual applications will not be considered,” said TSC in an advert.
About 1,341 teachers will be promoted to the position of Deputy Principal I, 1,096 to Deputy Principal II, 39 to Senior lecturer I, and 1,590 to Deputy Principal III. At the same time, 209 Curriculum Support Officer positions are up for grabs.
At the same time, 2,111 teachers will be promoted to the position of head teacher, 6,680 to Senior Master grade IV, 1,765 to Deputy head teacher, 45 to Senior Lecturers and 350 to Senior Master IV.

“Applicants are advised to give accurate information while making their applications. Those who give false information regarding their credentials will be automatically disqualified,” said Dr Macharia.
Interested candidates are expected to submit these clearance certificates:
- Higher Education Loans Board
- Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission
- Credit Reference Bureau
- Kenya Revenue Authority
- Certificate of good conduct from Directorate of Criminal Investigations
Shortlisted candidates will be required to present these documents during the interviews, alongside a letter of appointment and deployment to the current grade.
