Afro-pop band Sauti Sol has cancelled the much hyped ‘Sol Saturday’ concert that was to take place today (Saturday, October 19).
Sauti Sol says that they decided to cancel the fete after realising that the size of the event does not comply with Kenya’s COVID-19 protocols and regulations.
“We regret to inform you that we shall not be performing at today’s scheduled ‘Sol Saturday” event. Although we deeply desire to give you a marvelous show, we can not in good conscience assure your health and safety which is our highest priority,” reads a statement from Sauti Sol.
Sauti Sol assured promoters of the event, Tukutane Entertainment Limited and Masshouse Group, that they will refund their money immediately, so that they can in turn refund the tickets that had already being bought.
The concert was to take place at the Waterfront Mall in Karen, Nairobi, from midday to 8pm. The event’s tickets were costing between KSh2,500 and KSh6,000.
“It is disheartening and unfortunate, but necessary and we hope to appear on stage again as soon as we can do so safely and responsibly,” Sauti Sol regretted.
Sauti Sol is band of four that was formed way back in 2005 i.e. Bien-AimΓ© Baraza, Willis Chimano, Savara Mudigi and Polycarp Otieno.
In June, 2020, Sauti Sol released their fifth studio album ‘Midnight Train’ under the Universal Music Africa label.
