The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party on Wednesday conceded defeat in the just concluded Msambweni parliamentary by-election.
Secretary General Edwin Sifuna congratulated all winners in the several by-elections held on December 15 by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
Although he rues ODM’s loss in Msambweni and Wundanyi-Mbale ward, Sifuna says that the party will regroup and forge ahead, with the 2022 General Election beckoning.
“Congratulations to all winners in yesterday’s by-elections especially @TheODMparty Candidates in Kisumu North and Dabaso Wards.
“We came up short in Msambweni and Wundanyi /Mbale but we regroup and forge ahead. Thanks to all our teams everywhere for the great effort,” said Sifuna.
Independent candidate Feisal Abdallah Bader floored ODM’s Omar Boga to clinch the Msambweni parliamentary seat that fell vacant after the demise of Suleiman Dori in March.
Deputy President William Ruto fronted Bader garnered 15,251 votes against Boga’s 10,444, in a hotly contested by-election.
