The Msambweni by-election has already been marred by accusations and counter-accusations of malpractices.
Several people have been arrested on plans to sabotage the parliamentary by-election.
Supporters of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate Omar Boga and those of independent candidate Feisal Abdallah Bader have clashed, each side accusing the other of attempting to rig votes.
Bader’s team, who enjoys the backing of Deputy President William Ruto and the Tangatanga Jubilee faction, claim that senior police officers in Msambweni were swapped with those from Mombasa County in the dead night under unclear circumstances.
They accuse the security team of harassing them but extending an olive branch to their ODM counterparts.
