President Uhuru Kenyatta has ordered the Interior Ministry to ensure that all school children are reporting back to school in January 2021,
Speaking during the 57th Jamhuri Day celebrations at Nyayo National Stadium, President Uhuru said that his government is out to ensure that no child has been left behind when schools resume in-face learning.
Uhuru directed the Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i-led ministry, through chiefs and assistant chiefs, to account for all children within their respective jurisdictions.
Consequently, President Uhuru also ordered the Ministry of Education to receive reports from all primary and secondary schools in the country on the identity and details of all those children who would not have reported back to school in January.
“The Ministry of Education shall reissue and publicise the education policy on schools re-entry so as to facilitate the re-admission of all of those who may not be able to report due to pregnancy,” said President Uhuru.
