The Ruiru Police Station officer and three workers of Mitsumi Business Park who were arrested in connection of a KSh5 million robbery have been released on a cash bail of KSh500,000.
The four were arraigned in court on Thursday and charged with the theft of over KSh5 million from an accountant who was on her way to deposit the cash in a bank.
The four suspects, who have also been given an alternative of KSh1 million bond, were arrested on Tuesday by DCI detectives based at Parklands Police Station.
Armed with pistols, it is alleged that the four together with others who are still at large accosted the accountant while inside a lift.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) sleuths recovered $10,000 (KSh1,115,000) believed to be part of the stolen money from one of the suspects- Albert Ocholaβs house in Huruma estate. Ochola works as a plumber at Mitsumi Business Park.
Another $12,300 (KSh1,371,500) was recovered from another suspect- Walter Kiverengeβs house in Kawangware. Kiverenge, a staff supervisor at the business park, had concealed the cash inside a water dispenser.
In the fourth suspect- Bernard Ogutu’s house in Mathare Area I, $10,000 (KSh1,115,000), a brand new TV and two mobile phones were recovered.
