East African Breweries Limited (EABL) has appointed Jane Karuku as its new Managing Director.
Mrs. Karuku, whose appointment is effective from January 1, 2020, takes over from Andrew Cowan, who has been serving in the same capacity from July 2016.
Cowan will retain his place on the board of EABL as he takes up a new role in Diageo’s global business as MD for Africa Regional Markets. Diageo is EABL’s parent company.
A proven business leader, Karuku is the current Managing Director of Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL)- EABL’s subsidiary in Kenya.
Before her appointment to KBL, she was the President of Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA).
She has also previously held a number of senior positions in various companies including Deputy Chief Executive and Secretary General, Telkom Kenya and Managing Director, Cadbury East and Central Africa.
Mrs. Karuku holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science and Technology from the University of Nairobi and an MBA in Marketing from the National University of California.
She is currently the Chairperson of Kenya Vision 2030 Board. Most recently, she led the Kenya COVID-19 Fund, a body created by President Uhuru Kenyatta to mobile fund to help in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
