Kabuchai Member of Parliament James Lusweti is dead.
The Ford Kenya lawmaker died at the Nairobi Hospital after a long battle with unknown illness.
The second-term MP was a former councilor of Chwele Ward and at one point he served as the chairperson of Bungoma County Council.
On April 16, 2020, Lusweti had to be airlifted to Nairobi Hospital for specialised treatment after his condition worsened.
In an interview with a local media outfit in April, Lusweti said that he had a severe case of gout with a swelling starting from his tow and all the way up to the knee.

Bungoma Senator and Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula said: “It’s with profound shock and sorrow to learn of the passing on of Hon James Lusweti Mukwe, Kabuchai mp. He willl be remembered as a hardworking & loyal member of Fk party who served his people with utmost honesty, commitment & accountability. RIP kuka.”
ANC Party leader Musalia Mudavadi added: I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Kabuchai MP Hon. James Lusweti Mukwe of FORD -K Party. I pray that God will grant his family strength during this unfortunate time. My most sincere condolences to his family, friends and the people of the larger Bungoma County.
Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa mourned Lusweti as a diligent leader, adding that, “his death is not only a big blow to his family, relatives, and friends but also to the people of Kabuchai Constituency and Bungoma County.”
