Shopping bags collected from dumpsites washed with sewage water and later resold to the market
Just how safe is the bag you are using to carry your groceries? in 2017, non-woven bags were introduced after the ban on plastic bags. It is during this time that ‘Uhuru bags’ as they are popularly known flooded the market. But, they were later banned after it was discovered that some were of low quality and like plastic bags, they were a menace to the environment.
Fast forward to 2020, the bags are still in use but to make matters worse, some are collected from dump sites, washed with sewage water and later make their way to the market.
