COVID-19: 711 cases recorded, 7 patients succumb to the disease

The Ministry of Health has recorded 711 new coronavirus cases bringing the cumulative caseload in the country to 83,316.

The cases were recorded by testing 6,672 between Saturday and Sunday. The total samples tested in the country now stand at 885,933.

From the new cases, 692 are Kenyans while 19 are foreigners. 468 are males and 243 are females. In terms of age, the youngest is a one-year-old baby while the oldest is 92.

The Ministry has also reported that 1,262 patients are admitted in various health facilities countrywide. 7,806 are on Home Based Isolation and Care. 68 patients are in Intensive Care Unit, 42 are on ventilatory support while 24 are on supplemental oxygen.

96 patients are separately on Oxygen out of whom, 73 are in general wards. 23 are in High Dpendency Unit.

The cases are distributed in the counties as follows; Nairobi 190, Mombasa 88, Nakuru 78, Nyandarua 35, Murang’a 34, Kitui 30, Machakos 28, Nyeri 27, Embu 25, Busia 21, Kiambu 17, Vihiga 16, Kisumu 13, Kilifi, Isiolo 11 cases each, Meru, Turkana 10 cases each, Kirinyaga, Bungoma 9 cases each, Laikipia 8, Kakamega 6, Kajiado 6, Kwale, Homa Bay 5 cases each, Makueni 4, Kisii, Uasin Gishu, Migori has 2 cases each, Nandi, Samburu, Kericho, Tharaka Nithi, Baringo, Taita Taveta, Lamu and Bomet has 1 case each.

576 patients have recovered from the disease, 469 from the Home Based Care Program while 107 have been discharged from various hospitalls in the country.
Total recoveries now stand at 54,975.

7 patients have succumbed to the disease bringing the fatality to 1,452.
