COVID-19: 949 more people test positive as Nairobi, Kiambu record high infections

The Ministry of Health on Saturday, November 26 announced 949 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the national caseload to 82,605.

According to the Ministry, the 949 cases were detected from the 8,311 samples that were tested between Friday and Saturday. The cumulative samples that have been tested so far since Kenya recorded her first case in March stands at 879,261.

From the new cases, 913 are Kenyans while 36 are foreigners; the males account for the lion’s share, 558 against 391 females.


A two-month-old baby is the youngest today, while the oldest is 100 years.
The cases are distributed across 34 counties as follows; Nairobi 400, Kiambu 138, Mombasa 71, Kakamega 49, Kericho 33, Kisii 30, Nyamira 26, Machakos 24, Kisumu 18, Kilifi 15, Taita Taveta 15, Bungoma 15, Busia 14, Makueni 9, Siaya 9, Kajiado 9, Turkana 9, Laikipia 9, Embu 8, Muranga 7, Nyeri 7, Tana Rivr 6, Lamu 4, Meru 4, Nakuru 4, Vihiga 4, Bomet 2, Isiolo 2, Uasin Gishu 2, Kitui 1, Trans Nzoia 1, Nandi 1, Kirinyaga 1, Migori 1 and Homabay 1.

On a positive note, the Ministry has announced 274 new recoveries; 224 were from the Home-Based Care Program while 50 were discharged from various hospitals. The total recoveries now stand at 54,399.

COVID-19 death toll has risen to 1,445 after 4 patients lost their lives.
