18 teenagers were on Friday, November 27 night arrested while having a house party in Kahawa Sukari estate in Ruiru, Kiambu County.
According to police, the 18 teenagers-16 of whom were below 18 years were found drinking alcohol while celebrating a birthday.
Ruiru Deputy County Commissioner Geoffrey Githinji rued the gathering that was against COVID-19 containment protocols.
Githinji warned those who sold alcohol to the children, promising that they will be arrested and prosecuted.
The children will be released later today, with Githinji calling upon parents to be more vigilante about their children’s whereabouts, especially now that they are idle because of closure of schools.
Cases of moral decay among children have been on the rise lately.
Last Saturday, 44 minors- including 26 boys and 18 girls were arrested by DCI detectives at Mountain View Estate. DCI sleuths recovered various alcohol brands, bhang, and used condoms from the house.
Their host, 41-year-old Millicent Kithinji has since been arraigned and detained for seven days awaiting mentioning of his case.
On Monday, November 23, another set of 21 teenagers were arrested in Webuye, Bungoma County, having a drinking party at a hotel.
