The national U20 football team Rising Stars kicked off their U-20 CECAFA championships campaign with an emphatic 3-0 mauling of Ethiopia in a Group C opener at the Sheikh Amir Stadium in Arusha Tanzania on Monday afternoon.

Gor Mahia sensation Benson Omala headed home Kenya’s opener from a fine right-footed swing-in cross from Kariobangi Sharks defensive prodigy just five minutes to the interval.

Ronald Reagan from Sharks wasted no time after the break, pouncing on a failed clearance by the Ethiopian defence to slot home within the first minute after the restart.

Enock Wanyama wrapped up the win six minutes to stoppage time after fine play from Omala that set him through an empty net.
