A man who allegedly entered into a woman’s house and captured by CCTV cameras stealing panties only amused an Embu after he denied the offense.
Pius Mugendi denied ever entering into the house of Juliet Mawia and stealing six pairs of underwear valued at Sh1500 belonging to her despite the investigating officer in the case revealing to the court that he had CCTV footage showing him stealing the underpants.
Mugendi told Senior Resident Magistrate Jean Ndengeri that he never entered into the house of the complainant and that the charge had been fabricated. Mugendi maintains the person on the CCTV footage is not him at all.
Owing to his denial, Magistrate Ndengeri instructed the investigating officer to avail the CCTV footage so that the court could view and determine whether the accused was telling the truth.
On 5th May 2020 at around 11 pm at Mikimbi village in Embu North Sub-County, Mugendi is said to have entered into a house belonging to Mawia in her absence and stole the six inner wears.
The accused caused laughter when he strongly denied he was the one who stole the panties despite being told there was CCTV footage showing him red-handed stealing the items.
The case will be mentioned on December 7 when the CCTV footage will be presented to the court.
