Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and her aide Geoffrey Okuto Otieno have pleaded not guilty to murder charge.
The two have been charged over the killing of Michael Jola Ngumbao and injuring several people during the October 2019 Ganda Ward by-election.
The seat had fallen vacant after the High Court nullified the election of Abdulrahman Omar due to election irregularities in the August 7, 2017, General elections.
Jumwa’s defence sought to have the two accused released on bail, with Senior Assitant Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Alloys Kemo, asking the court to give him more time to file an affidavit opposing the bail.
The lawmaker’s defence team comprises of Lawyers Danstan Omari, Jared Magolo and Cliff Ombeta.
The duo will know their bail application fate on Friday, October 23 at 11:30 am.
