It all started when Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi took to Twitter on Monday, October 12 to tease COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli about recent political meetings that had been happening from his Kajiado home.
The senior counsel posed a question, “Who GAGGED Mzee Francis Atwoli? Is Camp David in Kajiado closed?”
Within no time, the fiery trade unionists responded to the lawyer’s question with a lengthy hard tackle.
Atwoli said: “I can choose to work from my office in Nakuru; Solidarity building; Khartoum; Brussels or Geneva. While I am currently busy negotiating for salaries in Nakuru you are busy swindling money from clients. The Kajiado meetings are on strategic political issues. I am a trade unionist,” replied Atwoli.
Kenyans on Twitter join in the conversation
Kenyans on Twitter (KoT) also joined in the conversation, with some applauding Atwoli for the hard tackle, while others sided with Ahmednasir.
@ahmednasirlaw wuuuuuiiiiii.. A life threatening tackle but the referee waves play on.. We are in the 22min of play. Scores are 3-nil to home team. The away team is livid. That away team has always survived on grand graft in top echelon of government over the years!

A trade unionist in bed with government??? You should deal with double taxation on salaries. Pyrethrum workers issues! Pensions! The list is endless.

He is negotiating for salaries and not wheelbarrows. If Ruto is a true leader, he should back a poor man for president. The country needs modern think tankers in the management of this country and not wheelbarrow givers.

Baba Atwoli sasa mbona wewe na murathe mmenyamaza…after you advised the deep state to bar Ruto from attending harambees?, as Dinga's political advisors, you advised @RailaOdinga to start organizing harambees and attend church services..hamna another strategy?

You have been saying you are negotiating for salaries since forever. What is the current minimum wage? Why are workers still exploited, lastly why have your turned COTU into a political wing?

Interesting, but yet no trade union actually trades, they only politic and collect dues from their members and extort employers.
It is time we called this businesses by their true names.
