Gor Mahia have appointed Brazilian Roberto Oliveira Gonçalves do Carmo as their new head coach just a day after parting ways with Britton Steven Pollack.
Club Chairman Ambrose Rachier confirmed the appointment of the who last coached Rayon Sports of Rwanda.
“We are excited to announce the arrival of our new coach Roberto Oliveira from Brazil. He has had long coaching experience in Africa thus making him more conversant with African football. We think he will be a great asset in our quest to achieve better results on the field,” Rachier spoke highly of the tactician.
Roberto Oliveira as he is fondly known is not new to East African football.
In 2018, he replaced former AFC Leopards coach Ivan Minnaert at Rayon Sports and is largely fascinated by his latest role.
“I like the Gor Mahia…. I like their style because I have seen Gor Mahia play many times and even had a tie against them in CAF competition. I am happy to be offered the chance to coach the team,” Roberto is quoted by the Gor Mahia website.
The head coach role remained vacant following the exit of Steven Pollack which was made public on Friday.
The Britton took a ten-day holiday to Finland in September but did not return since, assistant coach Patrick Odhiambo taking charge of the club temporarily.
“We can confirm that the club has parted ways with coach Steven Polack on mutual agreement. We had a discussion with him and received a letter as well to facilitate the agreement. We would like to thank him for his time at Gor Mahia,” Rachier offers.
Pollack joined K’ogalo at the start of the 2019/20 campaign winning the league title and the super cup.
