It is a reprieve for Sirisia MP John Waluke and his co-accused Grace Wakhungu, after a Nairobi court granted them Sh10 milllion and Sh20 million cash bail respectively.
MP Waluke had filed an appeal at the High Court, with the bail granted pending determination of the appeal.
The court said that Waluke and Wakhungu had met the threshold for them to be granted bail.
Justice John Oyiego has further directed the two to deposit their passports with the court. The two are not to leave the country without the court permission
Waluke and Wakhungu were found guilty in an Sh297 million NCPB maize scandal on June 22.
Waluke and his co-accused were found palpable of uttering false documents in 2009. It is alleged that being a director of Erad Suppliers, Waluke knowingly uttered a false invoice for Sh114 million to be used in a dispute between Erad and the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB).
