The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has suspended Kilifi North MP Owen Baya following his recent public utterances which the party says are “unkind” to it and its leadership.
ODM’s National Executive Council (NEC) says that Baya’s recent public pronouncements and conduct have casted doubt on his commitment to the party and its objectives.
The Raila Odinga-led party has been on a two-day retreat at Stoni Athi Resort, an event where the former prime minister insisted that BBI report will be out soon and that Kenyans should be prepared for Constitutional reforms.
In what was seen as an attack to DP Ruto allies for being against the BBI, Raila castigated a section of leaders whom he says are “always against any efforts to reform the country”.
Owen Baya’s bromance with Tangatanga
In the recent past, the lawmaker has been seen to be associating himself with the Tangatanga wing of Jubilee Party, a faction that supports DP William Ruto’s presidency in 2022.
When DP Ruto was hosting Msambweni independent candidate Feisal Abdalla in his Karen home, Owen Baya was among the Coastal MPs who accompanied him.
DP Ruto himself has gone against the Jubilee Party, which decided not to field a candidate in the coming by election.
