It was on Wednesday, September 23 when a 45-year-old man from Malindi, kilifi County, arrived in Nairobi.
Upon arriving at around 7:30 pm, John Kisongona Mareko invited his sister-in-law who resides in Mwiki. They both booked a guest room at Graceland Hotel along Dubois Road.
Mareko says they spent the night at the lodging, but things started going south the following day (Thursday) at around 6 am, when Jesca Sibwe developed some complications.
According to a police report filed at the Central Police Station, the 42-year-old woman started coughing and vomiting profusely.
The report says Mareko called a taxi to rush her to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Mareko is in police custody as investigations into the death of his sister-in-law continue.
The body is currently at the hospital’s morgue awaiting autopsy, to ascertain the cause of the death.
