Education CS George Magoha has urged teachers to prepare for the resumption of learning programs from Monday next week.
CS Magoha said that teachers should work on reporting to schools ahead of the 28th September as part of ongoing preparations to reopen schools.
Speaking at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) after a meeting with stakeholders, the CS revealed that a bigger committee is set to meet again and give a final report to provide a direction in the gradual reopening learning institutions.
Magoha revealed that they have agreed on a timetable that is currently private and confidential and will be made public once they have come to a consensus.
“I will take the recommendation to the larger committee and the larger committee will look at it and if they agree then we shall send it for concurrence to the person who will then announce to you when the schools will reopen,” said Magoha
Prof Magoha further said that he is yet to be given the powers to announce the reopening of learning institutions that if the powers will be delegated to him, the information will be publicly announced.
Plans for reopening of schools come barely six months after the country was hard struck by the COVID-19 pandemic.
