Governor Muthomi Njuki, co-accused deny charges in Sh34.9M graft case

Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki, alongside 16 others, has been arraigned in court Tuesday, September 8.

The governor and his co-accused are charged with the irregular award of Sh34.9 million solid waste project.

All have denied the charges laid against them, with DPP urging for stringent bail conditions.

The county boss was on Monday, September 7 grilled by EACC officers over the graft case.

 

The move to charge the individuals was prompted after the EACC concluded its investigations, recommending the county boss and other suspects be charged with criminal offenses under the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act No.3 of 2003 and Proceeds of Crime and Money Laundering Act of 2019.

Governor Njuki will be charged alongside; Fridah Muthoni Murungi (Chief Officer Environment and Natural Resources), Floridah Kiende Nywigah (Acting Director-Procurement), Highton Muriithi Njue (Finance Officer), Teresiah Kagoji Mburia (Finance Officer), Arch. Lee Munene, Emily NKatha Micheni (Procurement Officer), Mike Mwiandi Muriithi (Accountant), Elosy Kariithi Matti, Kenneth Muguiya (Director of Westomaxx Investment Ltd/Kenstar Electricals and Hardware Ltd), Caroline Sheila Wambui (Director of Westomaxx Investment Ltd/Kenstar Electricals and Hardware Ltd), Allan Muriithi (Director, Gentech Suppliers Ltd), and George Miano (Businessman).
