KoT react as Mutahi Ngunyi says "without Kikuyus DP Ruto is nothing"

With the 2022 General Election fast approaching, debates as to who will succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta when his two-term reign comes to an end is heating up. Efforts and political machinations are on top gear.

Although a section of Kenyans had tipped Deputy President (DP) William Ruto to occupy the House on the hill come 2022, recent political events, including the March 9, 2018 Uhuru-Raila Handshake and the subsequent Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) has changed a lot.

Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi launched a scathing attack at DP Ruto, saying that the former Eldoret North MP would be nothing, at least politically, without the Kikuyu vote.

According to Ngunyi, who invented the ‘Tyranny of Numbers Politics’ in Kenya, Ruto gave Uhuru only 1.4 million votes from Rift Valley region yet Uhuru brought in 6 million votes of his own, to win the 2013 Presidential race.

Taking to Twitter, Ngunyi lashed at Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen over what he terms as “talking GIBBERISH as usual when he SAYS that Ruto made Uhuru President.” Mutahi Ngunyi further claims that if you remove the Kikuyu vote from Ruto, he is nothing in Kenya’s political arena.
