Former Changamwe MP Ramadhan Seif Kajembe is dead.

The former assistant minister died at Pandya Hospital.

Kajembe represented Changamwe Constituency for three terms starting in 1997 up to 2013 when he was succeeded by current MP Omar Mwinyi.

Kajembe was elected as a lawmaker in 1997 on a KANU ticket. He was part of leaders who formed the National Rainbow Coalition (NARC) whose presidential candidate Mwai Kibaki won the 2002 General Election. In 2007, he was elected again on an ODM ticket.

The Raila Odinga-led party has mourned the demise of Kajembe, describing him as one of the founders of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)

“Lala salama Mzee wetu mmoja wa waasisi wa chama chetu kiteule Mhe. Ramadhan Seif Kajembe ambaye leo hii ametutangulia mbele za haki. Alihudumu bungeni akiliwakilisha eneo Bunge la Changamwe kwa awamu 3 kuanzia mwaka 1997 hadi 2013. Kwa jamii yake na wanapwani, poleni kwa msiba,” said ODM in a tweet.
