Tanzania has banned Kenya Airways from flying into the country until further notice.

According to the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA), the decision to nullify its approval for Kenyan Airways flights between Nairobi and Dar es-Salaam/Kilimanjaro/Zanzibar was on a reciprocal basis.

Kenya omitted Tanzania from the list of countries allowed to resume international flights into Kenya effective August 1.

“The Authority regrets to inform you that, on a reciprocal basis, the Tanzanian Government has decided to nullify its approval for the Kenya Airways (KQ) flights between Nairobi and Dar/Kilimanjaro/Zanzibar effective 1 August 2020 until further notice,” said the TCAA in a statement.

Transport CS James Macharia released names of countries that will be allowed to resume international flights to Kenya. They include;

Uganda, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Morocco, Ethiopia, Canada, South Korea, China, UAE, Qatar,, UK, France, Switzerland, USA (except the states of California, Florida and Texas).

CS Macharia said that these countries had been given the green light to resume flights to Kenya because of recording declining COVID-19 cases.

Passengers arriving with PCR-based COVID-19 negative certificate and a body temperature not exceeding 37.5°C will be exempted from quarantine.
